What is systemic change?Systemic Change in works among those living in poverty aims beyond providing food, clothing and shelter to alleviate immediate needs, and enables people themselves to engage in the identification of the root causes of their poverty and to create strategies to change those structures which keep them in poverty. This also requires changing attitudes that have caused the problem.
What did we learn from the first meeting of the Vincentian Family in cyberspace? It seems like quite a bit. Before we fast forward to the future lets look at the statistics. In its short life VirtualVins.net was viewed from 290 different cities in 27 countries with the greater part of those visits on April 24. So there were many more visitors than just the viewers from the 20 “official” sites. As we read the comments that have come in during the past 72 hours two things have become apparent.

"Seeds of Hope: Stories of Systemic Change" presents examples of systemic change projects and descriptions of strategies to promote systemic change. The Vincentian Family's Commission for Promoting Systemic Change, coordinated by Fr. Robert Maloney, Congregation of the Mission (CM), wrote the book and has since promoted continental meetings worldwide to educate members of the Vincentian Family and prepare trainers on systemic change who bring the effort to local ministries.
